This guide explains the LangSpector interface, audit process, report, score, findings, settings and additional Pro controls.
WORDPRESS ADMINISTRATION
The LangSpector menu
After activation, LangSpector adds its own section to the WordPress administration.
Dashboard
View the latest multilingual health score, finding counts and start a new audit.
Report
Review the findings generated by the most recently completed audit.
Settings
Review the active edition, safety policy, current checks and uninstall data preference.
Pro License
Available when LangSpector Pro is installed. Activate and check the status of your Pro license.
My installations
Manage the WordPress installations associated with your Pro license.
DASHBOARD
Your audit at a glance.
Multilingual health
The dashboard displays a score from 0 to 100.
A higher score represents fewer active multilingual issues. A perfect 100 is reserved for an audit with no active findings.
Latest results
See the number of active findings classified as Critical, Important, Warning or Review.
Ignored findings are excluded from these active counts.
Last scan
The dashboard shows when the latest audit was started and gives direct access to its report.
THE HEALTH SCORE
Use the score as an overview, not as the audit itself.
LangSpector scores the proportion of affected content rather than simply counting every individual finding.
This prevents one page containing many problematic links from having the same impact as dozens of different affected pages.
The detailed report remains more important than the numerical score.
Finding severity affects the score
- Critical has the strongest impact
- Important has a significant impact
- Warning has a smaller impact
- Review has only a limited impact
- Ignored findings have no impact
RUNNING AN AUDIT
LangSpector scans your site in small batches.

Click Start scan
A new audit is created and the amount of eligible content is determined.

Follow the progress
The progress indicator shows how many eligible contents have been processed.

Finalisation
Once content processing is complete, LangSpector finalises the results and calculates the score.

Automatic report
When the audit finishes, you are automatically redirected to the report.
Important while a scan is running
Keep the audit tab open until the scan completes.
LangSpector prevents another audit from being started while an active scan is still running.
If the audit session is interrupted and expires, reload the page and start a new audit.
The scan is performed locally. Your audited site content is not sent to an external service.
THE REPORT
Each finding tells you what was detected and where.
The report contains the findings generated by the latest completed audit and provides links to the affected WordPress content.
Severity
Shows how LangSpector classifies the importance or certainty of the finding.
Type
Identifies the category of problem, such as a Polylang relation, wrong-language link, taxonomy, menu or SEO issue.
Language
Indicates the Polylang language associated with the affected content.
Affected content
Shows the relevant item and provides access to the WordPress content when available.
Message & details
Explains why the finding was generated and can include the current and suggested destination where relevant.
Status
A result can remain active or be deliberately ignored after you review it.
SEVERITY LEVELS
Four levels, four different meanings.
Critical
Used for strong structural problems such as invalid or inconsistent Polylang translation relationships.
Important
Used for significant issues such as links or taxonomy relationships pointing to the wrong language when a valid alternative exists.
Warning
Used for potential issues supported by sufficiently strong evidence, including confident visible language mismatches.
Review
Used when LangSpector detects something worth checking but human verification is preferable to an automatic conclusion.
FINDING TYPES
What LangSpector may report.
Polylang relation
Invalid or inconsistent translation relationships.
Wrong-language link
An internal content link points to another language although an equivalent translation exists.
Taxonomy language · Pro
A translated taxonomy assignment or link is inconsistent with the content language.
Menu language · Pro
A classic navigation menu item points to content in another language.
Menu structure · Pro
Translated menu structures differ in a way that deserves review.
Mixed-language text · Pro
Visible content appears to contain a passage belonging to another configured language.
SEO language · Pro
Supported SEO title or description metadata may use the wrong language.
ALT language · Pro
Image ALT information may contain another language or differ between translated media.
IGNORE & REACTIVATE
Teach the report which findings are intentional.
A finding is not necessarily something that must be changed.
After verifying the situation, click Ignore when the current configuration is intentional.
LangSpector remembers ignored findings across future scans when the same issue is detected again.
Ignored findings
- Are removed from active finding counts
- Do not affect the health score
- Can still be displayed in the report
- Can be restored with Reactivate
REPORT FILTERS
Focus on the results that matter to you.
Status · Free & Pro
Switch between Active, Ignored or All results.
Severity · Pro
Display only Critical, Important, Warning or Review findings.
Finding type · Pro
Focus on a particular category of multilingual issue.
Language · Pro
Restrict the report to findings associated with a specific language.
Large reports are paginated automatically, with up to 50 findings displayed per page.
SETTINGS
A deliberately small settings screen.
Edition
Shows whether LangSpector Free or Pro functionality is currently active.
V1 safety policy
Summarises LangSpector’s read-only approach, local scanning and conservative language detection.
Current V1 checks
Displays the audit checks currently enabled for your edition.
Data removal
Choose whether LangSpector’s stored audit data should be removed when the Free plugin is fully uninstalled.
DEACTIVATION VS UNINSTALLATION
Deactivating LangSpector does not delete its data.
The data-removal setting applies only when the Free plugin is completely uninstalled.
This prevents temporary plugin deactivation from unexpectedly deleting audit information and ignored-finding preferences.
LANGSPECTOR PRO
Pro adds checks, not a different workflow.
Once a valid Pro license is active, the additional checks run as part of the same LangSpector audit.
You still start the scan from the Dashboard and review everything from the same Report screen.
Additional Pro findings and advanced filters simply become available automatically.
